Overview

Job Title: Young Adult Carers Support Worker

Salary: £21,880 per annum

Contracted Hours: 35 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Background

PKAVS is a large local charity supporting the wellbeing of people throughout Perth & Kinross at their times of greatest need. Through our staff of over 80 and the help of more than 120 volunteers, we support young and adult unpaid carers, those recovering from mental ill-health, minority communities, older people, Perth & Kinross’ Third Sector, and local volunteers.

The Young Adult Carers Service offers information, advice, and support to young people and works in partnership with other agencies to deliver a range of activities that enable young people with caring responsibilities to be children first. Integral to this approach is the provision of advocacy services to Young Adult Carers so that their voice may be heard in a number of situations, including attendance at Children’s Panels and Court Hearings, case conferences with Social Work and Education & Children’s Services.

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated person to work within a small, supportive, and dynamic team striving to recognise and enhance the potential of young people. Whilst a relevant qualification is desirable, experience of working with and being able to engage directly with young people and their families is an essential element of this role.

You will be involved in developing and delivering a range of support mechanisms for Young Adult Carers between the ages of 16-25 years.  You will assist with the planning, preparation, and evaluation of the support packages available to them and will be responsible for the future development and sustainability ensuring that the needs of Young Adult Carers are being met.

You must have a flexible approach, working in collaboration with team members, volunteers, and external agencies in developing and participating in a range of activities and support services being delivered.

Offers will be made subject to satisfactory references, PVG Check and eligibility to work in the UK.

Please find the job description and an application attached. Please note CVs will not be accepted.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 24th October 2021.

Interview date: Monday 1st November 2021.
